Lakes to host family forum focused on high expectations
Posted on January 27, 2010Lakes High School is hosting a family forum focusing on high expectations and living the "Lakes Way." The forum will be held Sunday, Feb. 21 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at the high school, 10320 Farwest Drive SW in Lakewood. The event is open to students, parents and community members.
Participants will discuss what it means to set and live up to high expectations. Students and staff will lead sessions around topics including, college readiness; respect; how to support students in being their best; and how to resolve conflicts in a positive manner.
“The Lakes Way forums are a continuing effort to reach out to everyone in our community to support our students to be the best in school and life,” said Karen Mauer-Smith, a Lakes High School assistant principal. “We want feedback from all community members, students, parents and staff about what is going well and how we can work together to learn and improve. The forum is a collaboration between students and staff, who have worked really hard to plan a wonderful event.”
The forum is dedicated to the heroes in the community, both living and fallen, who set and live up to high expectations everyday. Refreshments will be served and the Lakes High School choir will perform. For more information, contact Karen Mauer-Smith at 583-5562.
