Letter: Police Guild supports CP school bond
Posted on January 4, 2010The Lakewood Police Independent Guild emphatically endorses the Clover Park School bond proposal to come before voters on February 9th that improves the schools that serve our children while maintaining a level tax rate. Our members understand that students must have a safe environment to learn in. The schools have serious safety and structural needs. Oakwood Elementary School is in a flight zone and cannot be rebuilt there. Southgate Elementary School is adjacent to Railroad tracks. Hudtloff Middle School has asbestos present throughout the building. Harrison Prep is temporarily housed at closed Lake City Elementary School, which is unsuitable for the middle and high school students. None of the schools are up to current building code standards and are well past the years they were supposed to be utilized. We understand a yes vote on this bond continues our community’s support of our children in safe and effective schools and we will work with you in our communities endeavor together.
