Ruth Eleanor DeSordi passed away peacefully at home on December 17th after a courageous battle with cancer. Mom was born on November 18, 1913 in Big Lakes, WA to Charles and Lois Lind. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael, her parents, three sisters, and two brothers. Aside from her family, her greatest passion in life was dancing. She not only loved ballroom dancing, but was also a member of a dance troupe, The Senioritas, a group of senior citizen ladies who performed for nursing homes and other organizations. Ruth also enjoyed playing Bunco, playing the slots, working crossword puzzles, and reading. She believed God is love and lived by the Golden Rule, treating everyone with kindness and respect. She is survived by sons Joe (Marlene), Charles (Vikki), daughters Lois Kennedy (Lorne), and Patricia Hughes (Michael), loving niece Linda Willett, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank her number one caregiver, daughter-in-law Marlene, Dr. Odenthal, her staff, and Hospice for all their loving care and kindness. Dorothy (Dottie) Louise Hyatt peacefully passed away in her sleep on December 19, 2009 at Pioneer Place of Tacoma. She is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years Richard Hyatt of Puyallup; daughter Judy (Mike) LeMoine of Yelm; grandchildren Suzy (Dana) Guttormson of Renton and Jason (Tiffany) LeMoine of Olympia; and great-grandchildren Matthew and Kayla Guttormson of Renton. Memorial services will be held at the Celebration of Life Center at Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park at 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW in Lakewood on December 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Tommy Wayne Johnson A beloved Husband, Father, and Opa entered heaven December 15, 2009. Tom was born on December 13, 1934 in Amarillo, Texas and grew up in California. He served over 20 years in the Army and was a Vietnam veteran. While stationed in Germany, he met the love of his life, Maria. They had three wonderful children, which led to two special grand daughters. In 1968 he settled in Steilacoom, and after his retirement from the Army, worked for the Steilacoom school district for several years. He lived a full life filled with work, travel, woodcrafts, stamp collecting, and jigsaw puzzles. He was the first on his side of the family to earn a college degree. Tom was preceded in death by his youngest son, Michael. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Maria, his son Edward Johnson residing in Germany, daughter Michelle Rudy and son-in-law Gerald Rudy, and his grand daughters Ren and Samantha, all of the Tacoma area. Edna Rachel Meade passed away December 20, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, WA. Edna was born May 3, 1920 in Fort Laramie, Wyoming, the 4th of six children to Elsie and Clyde Kuskie. She graduated from Torrington High School the Class of 1938. In 1938 Edna married her childhood sweetheart Frank Meade. Edna devoted her life to her husband and five children. Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren, home, flowers and holidays. In addition to being a supportive parent, she served as President of her children's schools PTA and volunteered in the schools. She received the Golden Acorn Award for her volunteer work. Edna owned and operated a clothing store in Tacoma for many years. She was also a real estate agent and a member of the Tacoma Board of Realtors. Her last years of employment were with the Pacific Lutheran University Library. In Edna's retirement years she was active at the Lighthouse Senior Center. Edna loved gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She received many blue ribbons in floral shows for her fushias, geraniums and roses. Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Frank, her son Bob Meade, her parents, sisters Evelyn, Milly, Betty and her brother Glen. Edna is survived by her sister Mabel of Lusk, Wyoming. Edna is also survived by four children, Bill (Fran) Meade of Morton, WA, Jim (Bev) Meade of Sydney, Australia, Patty (Don) Swanson of Puyallup, WA, and Tom (Jan) Meade of Mossyrock, WA. Edna is also survived by ten grandchildren, Susan Meade DeGroot, Sharon Kennard, Wendy Bambrick, Piper Norton, Craig Meade, Todd Meade, Angie Naylor, Toby Swanson, Katie Bigelow, and Summer Ramos. She is survived by fifteen great grandchildren, Megan, Alex, David, Kevin, Harry, Spencer, Fox, Wyatt, Aubrey, Brodey, Ben, Bret, Brooke, Gabriel, and Josiah. The family would like to thank Edna's caregiver Marilyn of Puyallup Adult Family Home and the staff of Peoples Retirement, especially Linda, for the love and care that you gave to our mother over the years. JESSIE NELLE REECE JULY 27, 1927 - DEC. 18, 2009 It is with great sadness the family of Jessie Nelle Reece announces her unexpected passing on December 18, 2009 at the age of 82. Jessie was born July 27, 1927 in Ashord, WA to parents Peggy and Ted Starkel. She graduated from Eatonville High School in 1946. On January 23, 1948 she married Bill Reece, the love of her life. Her husband's military career took them to Utah, Oklahoma and Germany before they settled and retired in Tacoma. They bought their home in 1961 where they raised 2 daughters and a granddaughter. Jessie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, was an outstanding baker, enjoyed watching football and baseball, but most of all she enjoyed being Grandma Great. Jessie is survived by her husband of 62 years Bill Reece, daughters Susan Joyce and Margaret Bourne, granddaughter Elizabeth (Craig) Sugai and great-granddaughter Krysta, granddaughter Rene Bourne and great-grandson Mehki, grandson Joe Ismay and great-grandsons Diego and Mateo, brothers Billy (Alta) Starkel, Lane (Celia) Starkel, and sister Sue Bottcher along with numerous dear friends. Jessie is preceded in death by her parents Ted and Peggy Starkel, brothers Lawrence Starkel, Bobby Starkel and sister Katherine McClain. Our beloved wife, mother and grandma was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all. A celebration of her life is being planned for January. Frank A. Espanto, Sr. Frank A. Espanto, Sr., born March 31, 1926, of Spanaway, WA passed peacefully on December 17, 2009 at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, MO surrounded by all his children and his youngest granddaughter. Daily viewing from 1 to 9 pm & nightly Rosaries starting at 6:30 pm begins on Tuesday, Dec 22 at Mountain View Funeral Home. A Rosary Vigil will be held on Dec 28 at 6:30 pm at Our Lady Queen of Heaven (OLQH) Catholic Church in Spanaway, WA.
