Lakewood Fire District 2 Loses a Great Member of the Organization
Posted on December 14, 2009Guy Ploegman began his career with Lakewood Fire District #2 in the summer of 1972 as a volunteer firefighter. He soon took on the role of "Photo 1" and through photography, documented much of District's history between 1973-1983. Many of the photos he took are on display in the History Room at the Lakewood Fire District Headquarters station.
On February 14, 1983, Guy was the first employee hired for the newly created regional dispatch center; Fire Comm. He was promoted to Supervisor in April 1987, and remained the most senior Fire Comm employee until his retirement in June 2007. Guy's knowledge, experience and professionalism helped to make Fire Comm what it is today.
Guy passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday December 7th. He will be greatly missed by Lakewood Fire District 2 and its employees.
