Tuesdays with Morrie at Lakewood Playhouse
Posted on October 19, 2009Lakewood, WA – The Lakewood Playhouse will present a stage adaptation of Mitch Albom's highly acclaimed true story, TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE, opening October 23rd. Sixteen years after graduation, a journalist happens to learn that his old sociology professor is battling Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE is based on Mitch Albom's best-selling nonfiction book of the same name. Mitch, a journalist for a Detroit newspaper, finds himself losing his direction in life. He reconnects with Morrie Schwartz -- professor, mentor and friend from his college days at Brandeis -- and who is in his last months of battle with the debilitating Lou Gehrig's disease.
Mitch visits Morrie once a week, rekindling their friendship and Morrie teaches Mitch life’s lessons once again. A touching, tender and true story, Tuesdays With Morrie reminds us what really matters and what to value each day.
The Lakewood Playhouse production is directed by Brie Yost and will feature Elliot Weiner and Luke Amundson as Morrie Schwartz and Mitch Albom respectively. It will be presented at the Lakewood Playhouse three weekends October 23th through November 8th, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. There will be an audience “talk-back” with the actors after each performance.
The Lakewood Playhouse is located in the Lakewood Towne Center next to the Pierce Transit Center. Tickets can be reserved by calling the Lakewood Playhouse box office at 253-588-0042 or see the website at www.lakewoodplayhouse.org.
There is a free preview this Thursday, October 22 at 8 p.m. and a Pay What You Can performance on Thursday, November 5th at 8 p.m. ##
