Steilacoom Library reopens
Posted on June 21, 2009There's more than a "new book" aroma at the Steilacoom Library. The popular reading repository just off Steilacoom Boulevard that was closed (sigh) for the past two weeks reopened (hurrah) on June 15--and it's amazing to see the makeover.
New carpeting, fresh paint, an enhanced "Teen" area! Be sure to check out the AWE machine in the kids' section. A computer that's not connected to the Internet--it's designed for pre-schoolers to acquaint them to computers: how they operate, ways to learn--just fun. Complerte with a snazzy colored coded keyboard. Even adults might enjoy checking out its operation.
Steilacoom Library--the oldest public library in the State--1858--moved to its present location in 1995 from downtown Steilacoom. The library recently hosted some "future" planning sessions with an eye toward how the library system will serve its patrons in the future.
If you've not yet been by to check out the changes--as well as lots of books for summer reading (don't forget the Kids' Summer Reading Program)--then do so today.
