UP 'Fore!' Art Contest
Posted on June 11, 2009
What happens when you cross art and golf? Answer: A really fun art contest!
UP for Art, a nonprofit group dedicated to public art in University Place and the Chambers Bay Golf Course, site of the 2010 US Amateur and the 2015 US Open, are teaming up to celebrate golf and art in what they hope will become a unique annual event. The art contest has one special requirement--at least 25% of the art piece must be made of golf paraphernalia (3 dimensional encouraged).
“It’s a great way to highlight two of our greatest assets—fantastic local artists and the internationally renowned Chambers Bay Golf Course, ” said Patricia Lebbert, President of UP for Art.
“This is going to be a great deal of fun,” said Matt Allen, General Manager for the Chambers Bay Golf Course. “We love to find opportunities to get involved with the community. It will be great if the contest becomes one of the traditions at the course.” The contest has three separate categories: Students 17 and under ($10 entry fee); Adult ($15 entry fee) and Group Entries ($20 entry fee). A special “People’s Choice”
designation will also be awarded to one of the above entries.
All entry fees and registration forms are due by June 17, 2009.
Contest winners will receive the following prizes:
Students (17 and under)
- First place - $100 plus an individual golf lesson from a PGA Professional;
- Second place - $50
