darling-charlesCharles Ray Darling Age 87 passed away on May 27, 2009 in Tacoma. He was born in Enumclaw, Washington on November 12, 1921. He was a Coast Guard veteran of WWII. He retired from Puget Sound National Bank after 35 years. He had been a volunteer at Tacoma General Hospital for the past 5 years. He considered this an extremely important part of his life. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Norma. He leaves behind 2 daughters Gail Carlton (John) and Laurie Gleason (Mike), 4 grandchildren, Morgan Jackson (Marco), Lindsay Roman (Paul), Jihan Robinson (Nick), Joshua Carlton (Jill), one great granddaughter, Sloane Robinson, his sister Marlys Berg, niece Allison Berg, and nephew Rick Berg (Cheryl). At Charles' request there will be no service. ELIZABETH LANCASTER Age 92, passed away May 24, 2009 at Helen's place: Tacoma. She was born in Glendive, Mt, Feb. 18, 1917. Liz was a long time resident of Puyallup since 1938. Retired from Citizen's State Bank. She will be buried along side her husband, Dick, at Mountain View Cemetery. She will be missed by her many friends accumulated over the years and is survived by her sister, Evelyn Smith and other close family members. Funeral mass will be held Wed. June 3, at All Saints Parish - Puyallup at 1:30 PM. shumate-robertRobert Milton Shumate 6 April 1921 - 28 May 2009 Dad was born in Olympia to Charles and Jessie (Botts) Shumate. He passed away peacefully at the age of 88 in Tacoma. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty, one brother, Bill, five children, Joyce, (Emmett) Kolowinski, Alan (Stella), Roger (Barb), Debbie (Jerry) Triska, Rob (Sharma), 16 grandchildren (one grandson preceded him in death), 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various capacities and touched many lives. He loved playing the harmonica, which brought much joy to others. His interests included gardening, sports, dancing, and any activity which included his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at the LDS Church, 1102 S. Pearl St., Tacoma, Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009 at 10:00 AM, with viewing 9:00 AM. Interment follows at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Tumwater. The family would like to thank the caregivers who worked with and helped Bob in the last years of his life. raymond-marthaMartha Marie Raymond Mom joined Dad on May 28, 2009. She was born in Mercer, ND July 17, 1917. She came to Tacoma where she met and married her husband of 67 years, Charles J. Raymond. She lived a full life with many friends, was active in a garden club, many crafts, pinochle and a bowler. She was also known for her wonderful cooking and baking. Survivors include daughter, Charlene Haglund; son Chuck Raymond; granddaughters, Michelle Reilly (Chris), Denise Solomon, Jennifer Tifaga (Ben), great-grandchildren, Ananda, Molly, Sean, Jeremyah, and Imoan.
