Marshall E. "Chris" Christopherson
Jesus said to Marshall E. "Chris" or "Pops" as his children called him "I'm here for you, the fishing is great and the 18 hole golf course is fabulous". So "Chris" left this earthly world to be with Jesus March 13, 2009. He leaves behind his wife of 66 years Viola, his two sons Ken (Linnea & family) of Tacoma, Dar (Katherine) and Granddaughter Rochelle of Auburn, Grandson Kit (Christine) and great grandsons Josiah and Joel of Oak Harbor, Sister Lois (Jim) Cameron and nephews Gary and Scott of Lakeland, Florida, also numerous cousins in Minnesota.
Chris was born in Brainerd, Minnesota February 17, 1920 to Carl and Matilda Christopherson. He grew up in Guthrie, Minnesota and graduated high school in Bemidji in 1938. While stationed in Rapid City he met and married Viola Svoboda on March 1, 1943. In July of 1943 he was deployed overseas, Beginning at Omaha beach Chris drove 50,000 miles over two years convoying ammo throughout Europe. He was discharged in August 1945 in Utah. In 1952 Vi and Chris moved to Tacoma where he was the Transportation Motor Pool Officer for 28 years retiring in 1980. "Pops" enjoyed his family, golfing, fishing, and traveling and was an inspiration to all that knew him.
A military service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery at 18600 S.E 240th St Kent, Wash. At 12:30pm March 30, 2009. With a celebration of his life from 2-4pm at American Lake Lodge at 9050 Eagle Point Loop Rd SW in Lakewood, (Tillicum).
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Franciscan Foundation (Hospice House) or charity of your choice.
