Missed Friday edition

Drowning
Suburban Times Publisher Ben Sclair ran into the surf in Sarasota, Fla. Wednesday morning and provided assistance to an elderly man who had been knocked down by a wave and couldn't regain his feet.

Sclair heard the man's cries for help and, while his daughter (foreground) looked on, immediately rushed about 50 feet into the surf, helping him get to his feet. A beach lifeguard arrived at the scene within a few moments and took over from the soaked Sclair.

A spectator offered the fully dressed publisher a towel and voiced thanks for his efforts. Sclair was in Sarasota taking a short vacation with his family after attending a week-long aviation event in nearby Lakeland, Fla. where he produced a daily newspaper for the huge aviation gathering.

Editor's Note: Thanks for the write-up dad.

On Thursday of last week, my wife Deb and I took our kids to Disney World. After more than 13 hours at "the happiest place on earth", I was happy, but very tired, and completely forgot my Thursday night deadline.
